Playroom: Overview

I am absolutely loving our playroom.  It's this wierd nook in our house that you don't know quite what to do with, but I think it ended up being the perfect playspot.  It used to be my sewing room (oh how I wish I would have taken a "before" picture) but we moved my sewing room to the TV area, the TV area out into the main space, and moved the toys from the main space back into the little corner.  It took a lot of clearing out of toys (we had WAYY too many) and organizing into bins, etc.

I have an artist friend (really, she has a degree in art) who has an eye for home decor.  I showed her my space and talked how we wanted a house, etc.  She gave me the best advice - pick 3 colors and go with it.  So I choose orange and green and brown because they were gender neutral - and searched in fabric on Etsy for those colors.  I came across the Riley Blake AllStars series and knew it was what I would build the room around.  All the paint colors (even the sky) I color-matched from the fabric.  I feel that the space really came together after I picked my colors.

I thought it was fun to let the kids pick some things - not many, but enough.  For example I thought the house numbers would be cute as "1-2-3" but my 7 year old thought that was a baby number, so we went with a countdown "3-2-1" and apparently that's much cooler.

If you want a visual of how the layout is, I made a video tour for you.  (If it loads slow, hit pause and let the red line load all the way across, then hit play.)

And here's to recapping some of the projects that went into the room (follow the links for more info on the how-tos):

So - - any questions on it all??  Thank you for letting me indulge in my playroom for a whole week!!
