Pool Party Invite (from Jami at The Blackberry Vine)

Hi there!  I’m Jami from The Blackberry Vine.  I’m pretty new to “blog land.”  The Blackberry Vine started as a way to share some of my cakes, cake balls & parties with friends and friends of friends who were interested in hiring me to help with their parties.  About 6 weeks ago, I started looking around and found all of these wonderful talented people (like Mandy) who like to share their amazing ideas, too.  Mandy was so sweet to let me do my VERY FIRST guest post on her fab blog extravaganza.  Thanks Mandy!
A few things about me; I’m wife to the best husband in the world and a SAHM to the two most amazing boys!  I love being a “boy mom” though I do love making cakes and crafts for the girlies.  The party invitation I’m sharing with you today is for one of our sweet girlie girl friends.
Over at the Blackberry Vine, I enjoy sharing party ideas, cakes, cake balls, tablescapes, recipes, crafts and a few other random ideas.  I would be honored to have you stop by and visit sometime.

Now, on with the post.  My dear friend is having a little pool party for her daughter before school starts.  While cruising through internet I saw a version of this idea over at Martha Stewart
I steal many of her ideas because I love her.
(If you see one of  your ideas on my blog, its only because I love you, too!)
Here is a short little tutorial on how I made the invites.
(Check The Blackberry Vine over the next few weeks to see the entire party!)
The finished invitation…just in case you aren’t interested in how its done…
To make the invitations as shown, you’ll need:
fold-over note cards
large oval punch or oval cutting system
blue vellum
pinking shears
tacky glue
a printer
embellishments
First I printed out the invitations on the inside of the foldover notes (they’re on sale right now at our Hobby Lobby.)
I tried to my best to center it, but its a little off.  It’s ok, I just need to be sure I note that when cutting the oval on the other side.
Using my trusty Creative Memories cutting system, I cut an oval on the front of the fold over note.  This is the window that the invite information will show through.
Next, I measured the blue vellum, then used scalloped pinking shears and made the decorative edge.
I attached the vellum with tacky glue just around the edges.
Then I attached the top of the card to the bottom.
To finish it off, I simply added some embellishments I created from my Cricut.
(I just realized I forgot to add the rhinestones for air bubbles coming out of the fish’s mouth…oh well.)
These are quick, easy and inexpensive invitations for your next pool or beach party.
Thanks for having me at Sugar Beez!
Smiles!
Jami
