I got the recipe from The Pioneer Woman - so follow the link for that. They were good - my husband even said "these are like real donuts" - and they were (as opposed to fake?? but you know what I mean - sometimes homemade isn't great...but these were!)
They did take forever - I started in the morning, but finally finished around 11am - but it was well worth the wait. I had some helpers, so that is some of the reason for the slowness - and we dipped them all twice for extra glaze.
And of course when it came time to eat the spoils of our labors, the boys finally joined us:
So, anyone else out there ever tried to make donuts?? I will make them again for sure - -

Never tried. But now I'm craving a donut. Yum, they look sooo good!
ReplyDeleteYum! We tried homemade donuts for the first time a few months ago, but we went simple and did the canned bicuit method. VERY good! They were a big hit.
ReplyDeleteThose look as good as a "Crispy Creme" and no doubt they cost a quarter of the price! I have made them before for really big things like Halloween Carnivals with a large group of helpers. I'll try your recipe next time I'm with my grands...they, like your kids would love to help, and it's all about the memories. Thanks Mandy!
ReplyDeleteThey look delicious! I have wanted to try them and just gotten around to it. I am hosting a nes weekend party and would love to have you come link up some of your fabulous projects!

mmm mmm so good we will be making donuts for the local childrens home next weekend
ReplyDeleteThese look soooo yummy! I haven't had a donut in months (trying to lose weight). My SIL taught me a great way to make easy donuts. I thought I had it on my blog, but I don't.
ReplyDeleteBasically you make them with biscuits. Use a water or soda bottle lid to cut the holes out of the center & then fry them in oil. Then you can roll them in sugar or powdered sugar. Very yummy & quick!
