Oatmeal Carmelitas

When I saw these Oatmeal Carmelitas on Twelve Crafts Till Christmas, I knew I had to make them (go HERE for the recipe and how-to) and I actually had everything on hand!
First, grab a helper - then realize they aren't much of a help and keep them occupied with their own personal bowl of brown sugar and a TV show across the way....
Second, mix everything then press half the dough into the pan and bake it.
Third, pour in caramel, choc chips, and nuts for a goey middle layer.
Fourth, crumble the rest of the dough on top and bake again.

Meanwhile, take a break to take pictures of your kindergartner pulling her first loose tooth:

And that's it - - here they are, nice and goey.  We couldn't wait so we ate them like this with a fork:
But then after they cooled completely later that day we ate them again.  You know, to taste test the different variations - - here they are setup properly and cut into bars:

Enjoy!
