Okay, deep breath – – today is the debut of this season on Project Run & Play. The challenge was a pattern remix to Dana from Made’s Circle Skirt pattern. I remixed it into a swing top…
Circle skirts are super quick to crank out. The longest part is figuring out your pattern size – luckily I had made Dana’s Circle Skirt before HERE (check it out – super cute!) and had kept the pattern, so I just got it out and traced it for the top.
Then instead of an elastic waistband I needed a stretchy bodice – so I turned to my current favorite sewing technique, shirring.
I wanted a color break between the bodice and swing part of the top, but I was afraid that true piping would be too stiff to be gathered (the skirt part of the top has to gather to match up to the bodice) so I used yarn to fill my pipping with the thought that it would be more flexible.
And then to make the whole thing super fun, I made a matching doll outfit.
One of my favorite details is how I placed the straps in the back – just adds a little interest. And yep, it still has great spin – so fun!
So head on over to Project Run and Play, check out how everyone remixed the Circle Skirt Pattern, and vote for your favorite to see them move on to the next week! Voting is a quick turnaround, just a day or two…

Love this top, I’m tempted to make one for myself!
Is there meant to be a link somewhere for PR&P or am I being a bit blind and can’t see it? x
