SNAP – Creating a Presence – MEDIA

These are notes from the classes I took at SNAP and are obviously the things that stood out to me, things I want to implement, etc – check out their blog for more info on the sessions, better pictures, fun times, etc.


The second half of the Creating a Presence in a Big Blogger world was about media.  Here’s what I took away from it:

–media can EXPAND your READERSHIP – - – people who watch TV regularly don’t read blogs regularly (and vice versa) so you can capture a new audience

–to contact TV email an “associate producer”

–tap into all 5 senses – video brings you more dimension

3 Big Os
–ORIGINALITY
–OPINION – real first person (not tied to a brand) – you like something because you like it
–OWN IT – you have presence and passion – share it!

–Bloggers are changing the way media happens!!  they are changing the way expertise is perceived.

–Summarize your brand in 3 words and own that statement (I need to do this)

–be thick-skinned…not everyone will love you

NEWSPAPERS
–newspapers are dying- they NEED bloggers – your content can be their filler
–write a short letter with your 3 best links:

–have a press section on your blog (I need to do this too) – “As Featured In” – it will get the attention of book/magazine editors and advertisers
–Credibility
–email authors and editors – submit content in exchange for a blog link
–Months to break in: Jan, Mar, Apr, June, Aug
