I was at Michael's and saw these unfinished wooden crates - I think they were only $5. They are actually made to hold CDs, but I just liked them. I considered staining them but ultimately the unfinished look won.
I had it in my mind that I wanted to make a couple of crates, but buying them sounded so much easier! I wanted something to replace the crates I had to give back to Trevor:
So with the crates in my cart, I still didn't know what I would fill them with - - until I was checking out, and saw the Peeps display - it was put there for my personal inspiration. I grabbed 2 packs but wished I had grabbed 4.
I used skewers I already had and just poked them right through the peeps. I filled the milk jars with jellybeans to bring in some more color, then surrounded them with this fun Easter grass (I love it so much more than the plastic kind).
It adds a little seasonal cheer in my dining room:
The kids CAN'T WAIT for the season to pass so they can eat the dusty decor. The anticipation grows daily. As does the hardness of the peeps - but apparently the majority of people like stale peeps anyway?!?
Do you ever use candy as decorations?? Let me know I'm not the only one!
