Have you ever heard of SqueeZurts? I hadn’t until I had the chance to try them out, and I’m so glad I did. They’re such a great idea!!
They are tubes that YOU fill – and you can reuse them over and over, saving lots of money in the long run. But more than that, you get to fill them with things YOU make. Instead of the high-sugar yogurt tubes, you can put in healthier yogurt (or even homemade yogurt if you’re adventurous).
I had my helper – filling them was pretty easy with the squeeze bottle. On the last couple we had some air bubble issues – maybe because our squeeze bottle was getting low.
I forgot to take a picture, but to seal them you roll a twist-tie down on the top and then secure it. Then you can put them in the freezer or fridge or eat them, etc.
If you’re wondering how they compare in price, I really like this Price Comparison Chart, which shows that they end up costing about $0.05 per use.
I am thinking of some great things I can fill these with, such as:
–APPLESAUCE – we make a bunch of homemade applesauce, and this will be the perfect way to send that in school lunches.
–YOGURT – the kids like yogurt tubes in their lunch, but they can get pricey and are over-sugary. Now I can fill my own with regular yogurt and save money. I like to freeze them for lunches – that way when it’s lunch time they’re defrosted but still cold.
–SMOOTHIES – we’re trying out green smoothies, and the kids don’t mind them. It’ll be a great way to get them servings of healthy veggies and fruits if I can send a green smoothie tube in their lunches. Again, I’ll freeze them so they’re ready by lunchtime.
–FUN – for fun treats, I can fill them with pudding or koolaid/fruit juice and make popsicles etc.
These just have unlimited possibilities. I love that I know what’s going into them, and I love the money that you can save in the long run. They’re a win-win. Be sure to checkout out SqueeZurts!
