No Hanukkah is perfect without a proper Menorah, and what’s better than a Menorah you (or your kids!) made yourself? And you don’t even have to celebrate Hanukkah to enjoy this great craft!
Hi Sugar Bee Crafts readers! I’m Tal and I’m so excited to be here with you and take part in this awsome series! I blog over at The Crafeteria, where I post all kinds of crafty tutorials, DIY projects, activities for kids, recipes, blogging tips and more.
So do you want to know how to make this super easy Hanukkah menorah?
Here’s what you’ll need:
– Piece of scrap wood for the base
– 10 pebbles or stones
– 9 candle holders
– Paint or glitters if you want to decorate the wood
– Hot glue gun
I couldn’t decide if I wanted a simple menorah or a colorful one, so I just made two… Let’s begin with the simple one.
Use the hot glue gun to glue the pebbles or stones onto the piece of scrap wood.
Remember that the Shamash (the middle one) is traditionally higher than the other 8 lights, so just glue 2 stones one on top of the other for it.
Now glue the candle holders onto the stones and you’re done!
It was easy, right?
Now, let’s say that you’re just like me and you also want a colorful one… Easy! We can use Sharpies so paint the stones before we glue them to the wood, and you can also paint the wood if you want! I was in a shiny mood, so I used glitter…
Apply white glue –
And if you don’t want your whole house to become a glittery fairy-kingdom-like, you’d better apply mod podge on top.
Now go ahead and paint your stones. Go wild!
Now just glue the candle holders, and then glue the stones onto the wood, like we did with the simple Menorah.
Make sure to get some extra wood scraps, stones and candle holders, because your kids would love to join the party (it’s a great Hanukkah activity for kids!)…
Enjoy the rest of this great Guest Posting Extravaganza series, and thank you, Mandy, for having me today!
