Last week I was able to attend the Michael’s Makers Summit in California – it was ah-mazing! The main part of the summit was taking classes from instructors from CreativeBug – think watercolor, weaving, etc. And the awesome part is that YOU as a reader can take those classes too! It’s only $5 a month to access tons of amazing classes (I would pay way more than that just to learn watercolor alone), and there’s a 2 week FREE trial. So you’ll want to jump in on that for sure! Just Join creativebug to access those classes.
Let me dive into the event – – the first evening was dinner at a farm-to-table winery. We made floral crowns and it was just the perfect setting.
The chef helps raise the food we’re eating – love that experience.
The food was all cooked right there in front of us and it was delicious. The setting was perfection.
One of the best things is to be surrounded by people who get you – – like when we all pull out our phones to document the smores bar 😉
Just a few friends at the dinner – Ashley (Make It and Love It), Linda (Craftaholics Annoymous), Me (Sugar Bee Crafts), Delia (Delia Creates), Ashley (Lil Blue Boo), Crystal (A Pumpkin and a Princess). It was a great evening.
The next day we were transported up into the California mountains to a perfect retreat location, The Ranch Above. It was classes all day (the ones you can take!), so I wanted to walk you through those.
First up for me was the image transfer, which I surprisingly loved – it was easy and fun, my kind of craft. I don’t know why I’ve never tried it before! You just use packing tape to transfer images – super cool! I didn’t get a picture of my actual project, sorry about that…
Next we headed off to Paper Flower Making – I can’t believe these are actually made out of paper!
It was a little more challenging than I thought, but still fun to try out a new crafting skill:
Then we got to try our hand at watercolor, which I’ve been wanting to try out forever – she made it look so easy! I loved the tips that she gave as she was teaching.
I’m obviously no pro, but it was fun to give it a go, and I definitely want to do more watercolor in the future. My creations – –
The last class for the day was weaving, which was a wildcard and I really loved it. I loved that it was easy enough to do yet you could add so many options and details to bring out your crafting personality.
I’m not completely done yet, but I’m well on my way!
I love being a part of the Michael’s Makers team, and I loved being surrounded by other people who enjoy creating and crafting as much as I do – it was a dream!
The details of the event were amazing – the Michael’s team thought of everything, down to including phone chargers and sunscreen in our welcome kit. The decor was breathtaking and so perfect.
When we got back to our hotel there were even messages left for us on the mirror – so fun!
The final morning before we headed out, we got together one last time for breakfast and a Q&A session – can you believe it, these screens were hand-cut!!
Thanks to Michael’s for an amazing summit! And remember, you can experience the same classes that we did, so be sure to check out Creativebug!
