You guys have been asking, and I’m FINALLY ready to share a glimpse into my craft room. It is always messy and out of control, but I finally pulled it together enough to get pics and I’m super excited to share it ALL with you! And so, Craft Room Tour!
As you can image, it’s COLORFUL – like color explosion type of colorful 😉 And I love it!!
I’m Mandy, and WELCOME, to my craft room ! Fulling the need to create.
(My friend Rachael came out and snapped amazing pictures to showcase my craft room for you – be sure to check her out on facebook at Anchor & Spire Photography – she does a great job!! If you’re in the Kansas City Area and are looking for a lifestyle photographer, you’ve found one!)
Main View Craft Room:
Here’s what you’ll see when you walk in and turn left – the table is a peninsula in the middle of the room, which I really love. It’s on casters if I ever need to move it around. I have a post all about how to make a hoop wall – everyone always asks about it!
And this is what you see when you turn right – again, the table is in the middle of the room, so you can orient yourself with that placement.
I love the main table! It’s huge and a great work space. We made it ourselves, and you can read all about it here: make your own DIY Craft Table
Craft Supplies Displayed:
Craft supplies are so pretty!! So I love to have them out on display instead of hidden in a cubby. And of course it’s fun to arrange by color.
The supply wall is just rails and baskets from IKEA. My favorite part is the magnet strips – they’re normally used to hold kitchen knives, etc, but they work great to hold scissors and craft pliers 😉
Yarn Storage:
Yarn takes up a lot of room! At first I had it in the baskets, but it was so hard to see which colors I had on hand. I moved them to how they are now, stacked into cubbies, and I really really love it that way. It’s functional AND pretty.
Craft Organizational Tip – Go up!!
You can see a backed-out view of the yarn cubbies. My biggest tip in creating a craft room is to go up! You’ll need lots of space (at least I do!), so all my shelving goes up almost clear to the ceiling. I keep a stool in the room to be able to access the things on the top shelves. You’ll also notice the bag display I have behind the door – again, all the way at the ceiling. I don’t use them too often, so it’s okay that they’re up high, and they look pretty. And they’re easy to access if/when I do need to get to them.
Paint Storage
I talked about about the Craft Paint Storage that I made a few weeks ago – you can find that info here: Craft Paint Storage
The spraypaint and bigger containers of craft paint are on inexpensive (I think they were $4) spice racks from IKEA that I whitewashed.
Catch-All Carts
No matter how organized you are, there’s always just some random stuff. And things that get set in the craft room. I have two carts from IKEA that act as a dump zone, but also are a place to hold the things I use most often – tape, foam brushes, etc.
You can see how they sit on the end of the table. They are on wheels and can easily move around the room.
Sewing Station in a Craft Room
I like to stand when working on projects, so my Craft Table is counter height. For sewing, I like to sit, so there is a counter in the back that is table height. It is just some stacked shelving storage from Michaels on the ends and then a piece of countertop from IKEA on top. We added under-desk drawers to the counter so that I can store all of my sewing notions right there.
I made my thread rack several years ago – you can read all about it here: how to make your own Thread Rack.
And that’s that!! Hope you enjoyed the brief Craft Room Tour. I wish I could have you all over to see it in person! I am in love with it! You can see what my Last Craft Room looked like – which makes me love this one even more!

Mandy love your craft room. I’m currently creating a sewing/craft room in our new home. All new furniture. Yeah! I’m trying to do all my furniture in white with pops of color similar to what you did. I have the same Ikea spice racks but I see you whitewashed yours. How did you do it as they feel like they have a varnish feel to them? Thanks!
Mandy Beyeler says
all I did was mix white craft paint with water 😉 They still feel like raw wood, but I like the whitewash look it gave them
